It was a doo for sure! We have a reliable eye-witness and he said the flames were about 12 feet in the air during peak burning time...

That is too bad. Every once in awhile you see sleds burn down on trails - all makes. Good thing they weren't out in the boondocks when that happened. Long walk back from some of these trails unless your good at hitchhiking or have a buddy.

hi folks, yes it was a 2006 ski-doo 600 HO renagade. i purchased it new and am looking for simular incidents. it was running great, never had any problems 3150 miles when i left home that day. 13 year old was driving at the time it went up so fast it burned a hole in his right knee before he knew it was on fire. i was leading up the peak when i got to top no one was behind me i headed down and passerby advised me of the fire. several persons attempted to put fire out but it went up fast.

Sorry to hear that cedarpond. I'm just glad no one was seriously hurt. You can always replace material things

Sounds like a fuel line let loose or the fuel tank may have split leading to coming in in contact with the clutch, engine or muffler.

thanks for asking, he didn't get burned but he had on a heavy pair of timberland work coveralls with double knee. the first layer of material burned before he even knew the sled was on fire.

wendy, my girl, contacted BRP and she so far has been received pretty good, they have sent us a file number and Dalton Mtn. is shipping the remains. they say they will check things out and get back to us. (fingers crossed we can only hope that they will do the right thing.) if i was them i wouldn't want to loose a customer with 8 registered machines and looking to replace at some point.

Good luck with BRP. Not much left for forensics. Maybe you'll get something off a new one.

I was reading on the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) website this AM and came across this report on a voluntary recall of 4 Ski-Doo models: www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2008/04/07/bombardier-recall.htmlIt was found that a combination of cold temperatures, old fuel and an electrostatic spark from the fuel lines caused the explosions and fires. Those listed are: Expedition TUV 600 HO SDI - 2005 (Model number: FB5A & FB5B) Skandic SWT V-800 Yellow - 2007 (Model number: FP7B) Skandic SWT V-800 Yellow - 2008 (Model number: LS8B) Skandic SUV 600HO SDI Black - 2008 (Model number: B8H) Don't know if this will help, but I thought I would pass it along.

My friend up in Vermont had a Rev 800 catch on fire. it seemed the emergency brake locked in when his nephews buddy was driving it. The rotor heated up melted the oil tank and it caught on fire. Hope this helps. Dave
