Just received an alert from New Hampshire Fish and Game that Big Brook Bog will not be accessible to anglers and paddlers this season, and it will not be stocked with trout, because of a water drawdown necessitated by a seep in the embankment of the earthen Big Brook Bog Dam. Investigators from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Dam Bureau determined the problem, and began the drawdown so that they can investigate and mitigate. The Dam Bureau will work on the dam in July. Staff believe that a new drain is needed. Big Brook Bog will not be filled again until fall of 2009. Sorry to hear that. It is a nice place to fish!

While I'm not a Dam expert. I'm curious how a new drain will fix a seep in the embankment

While I'm not a Dam expert. I'm curious how a new drain will fix a seep in the embankment Oh C'mon ! Get with the program. If you drain all the water out, then there will be no more seepage will there? Was that so hard to figure out ? ;D

I've said you were kinda weird ... But never said "Woods Queer". I don't even know what that is supposed to mean "woods queer" is what happens when you spend too much time alone in the woods. Or in this case on top of a mountain ;D. It causes you act funny, talk to your cats... Promise to leave them outside FOREVER and not go looking for them when they don't come home. Then after you do find them poor old Ridgerunner has to act like tarzan and climb a 50 ft. maple tree because the one that was smart enough to climb up there isn't smart enough to get back down.
