This is a tragic story. I first heard of it Monday morning from SledNH, then Monday evening I saw on HCS Maine that the bodies had been found. Someone on HCS suggested that they may have been heading toward camp lights on shore near the outlet, but who knows? I don't understand why the Inn where they stayed did not notice their absence and alert the authorities. They were due to check out on Saturday. The search was triggered by coworkers back in PA when the couple did not show at work on Monday. It's nearly impossible to know where you are on a lake at night, unless you know the lake very well.

Wouldn't have made any difference anyway probably - they wouldn't last too long with all that gear on.... Once they're saturated, it's almost impossible to get to the surface. A real tragedy!

I didn't mean to imply that the Innkeepers were in any way responsible. I agree that it would not have changed the outcome - I just think it's very odd that they didn't figure out that something was wrong.

Nope - didn't think you were implying anything...
Just a shame that the family has to go through something so awful... don't know if they have any kids or not.

I don't think so. They were avid sledders just married a few years. This was their first trip to Maine - an anniversary trip I believe.
