I guess the old saying about March is true . . . "in like a lion, out like a lamb." It has been cold and windy here in the Mid-Atlantic. And snow is falling in DC this first day of March. There are some buds on the forsythia so Spring is not too far away, but it looks like ole Punxsutawney Phil was correct a month ago when he predicted six more weeks of winter. And it also looks like more snow for our friends up north. I think I am ready for spring!

Looks like 1-3 inches up here for tomorrow. Glad to hear the forsythia are budding...that's always good news!
Read your post on Joe, Montana... a very heart-rendering story... and just a preview of more things to come. Hopefully Pittsburg doesn't turn into a ghost town.

We have seven inches of snow on the ground so far and it's still coming down at 8:45am. Could get another 2-3 inches before its all over. This is more snow than we have had in quite some time. It is a real winter wonderland out there and so I have decided to take a day fo leave and stay home and enjoy the storm rather than going out and trying to deal with all the people who do not know how to handle snow. And it's headed your way!

We ended up with 7-10 inches in DC depending where you live. Here on the NE side we had about 8 inches with a foot down in southern Maryland and over on the Eastern Shore. Lots of blowing snow once the snowfall ended in the morning. Turned sunny but cold after that. Spring ain't sprung here yet.

Wow - that must put DC at a standstill... Only 4 inches up here on the mountain despite the weather channels that were reporting Northern Coos as getting slammed. 4 is sufficient!

Yes, DC is not set up to handle this kind of snow on such short notice. We are only suppose to get rain or a rain/snow mix. Everything was closed except the federal government which permitted a two hour late arrival or unscheduled leave. I took the latter and stayed home and enjoyed the long weekend. Back at it today, however.

In fact, that photo of the crocus in Mountain News was taken in our yard yesterday (Tuesday) AM. Still winter here, but there is hope . . . .
